Live at The Galaxy Theatre
Santa Ana, CA

April 21, 2000

What could be more magical than the opportunity to open for WASP? Thanks to the Galaxy Theatre and to those who purchased tickets through Raven Mad, we were able to do one spectacular show to an enthusiastic metal crowd. Thanks to all of you for your support!

With WASP's massive Helldorado backdrop behind us, Raven Mad had a wicked-looking stage-set. Here's a view of the show and some of the members of the crowd, courtesy of our photographer, The Moshking.

Mel and Fro-Boy (aka William) at center stage. WASP had this huge platform in the middle of the stage, for Blackie Lawless, with springs and heavy weights. We were instructed along with a series of death threats not to touch the platform. Thus, when we stood center stage, we were at least 3ft. recessed from the edge of the stage. It turns out, Blackie Lawless had a microphone stand with a set of Helldorado handlebars and would swing on it (hence the springs). The handlebars also shot out fireworks -- an impressive display.

It's GLOW FRO!!! Check out the volume of that Fro!! For a complete history of Fro-Boy's Fro, check out Fro Watch 2000!

Raven Mad's rhythm section.

Placed before WASP's drumkit, Joe appeared to have a massive amount of drums!

A lot of people ask us if we get to party back stage with the headlining band on nights when we do these massive shows with national acts. It actually depends. Yngwie Malmsteen's band was generous, and we actually stayed up til all hours hanging out with Yngwie's awesome drummer, John Malcuso on November 11, 1999. Yngwie himself spent the entire time holed in up the dressing room when he wasn't on stage.

When we opened up for Anthrax in February, 2000, there were a lot of people milling around backstage and we did get to talk briefly with the members of Anthrax.

WASP promptly threw us out. We were told to vacate our dressing room before WASP got off stage because they didn't want anyone back stage. Oh well. The show was awesome, nonetheless. We had a killer time playing, watching the show, and hanging out with our friends old and new!
