Live at Que's Riverbottom
Burbank, CA

June 17, 2000

Three shows in a single month is quite unusual for Raven Mad, but we're so excited about our new guitarist, that we can't wait to show him off! Que's Riverbottom is such a tiny place, but there was a good crowd, mostly dear friends, and we had a blast.

Extra special thanks to the guys in Holy Diver, a killer Dio tribute band, for not only kicking our ass on stage, but helping us bust our ass offstage -- they helped us move our equipment. Thanks guys!

Also in the audience was David Schwartz, the Publisher of DaBelly.Com, an online guide to arts, entertainment, and music in LA. Dave was doing an article concerning sexism and women in the local Los Angeles rock scene and interviewed Mel for the article. He also got the opportunity at the Riverbottom to speak with Ana Greco, former singer/guitarist for the local band Rapture, and Wanda "Smart Bomb", bass player for Rotten Rod and the Warheads. Look for the article in July's issue of DaBelly.com!

One of our biggest concerns of playing the Riverbottom was whether the club would allow Dustin to play and hang out afterwards, considering he has not yet reached the magical age of 21. Fortunately, our young six-string slayer received no problems at all from the Riverbottom! Here, Dustin tears it up while Joe slams on the skins behind him.

The stage is very very small at the Riverbottom. As a three piece, we barely fit on the stage, and as you can see from the above photo, we barely managed as a four-piece. The addition of a large projection TV over stage left worsened the space problem. Still, Raven Mad did their very best to thrash around and have one helluva good time, even on a tiny, uneven stage.

The evening was made extra special when Fro-Boy invited everyone to raise their glasses and give a toast to coat hangers (inside joke)! Actually, it was William's mother's birthday. Joe baked a delicious carrot cake, to which everyone at the Riverbottom was welcome. William's parents have been very helpful and supportive throughout Raven Mad's career. Thanks, Fro-Mom and Fro-Daddy!
