The Shack
Anaheim, CA

May 22, 1999

The Shack gig was one of the bigger shows we've played to date. We were opening for one of the most popular tribute bands in LA, The Atomic Punks, who do Van Halen better than Van Halen does these days. Although we had to sell a few tickets, the soundman was very professional, the PA sounded great, and the audience gave us a very positive response -- even our first moshpit!

The Shack had a good sized stage and lots of room for people. When we started playing, the room was fairly empty, but halfway into our set it began to fill up...

Soon, we had our very first moshpit, courtesy of the guys from Chu-Dawg, who also played that night. If you get a chance, check the Dawgs out; they're another band who remembers how to use a guitar! They're also hella cool guys.

William wowed the Metallica-loving crowd with a perfect intro solo to "Am I Evil"

Present in the audience was Joe's very own 70-something grandmother! Of course, someone had to ask her whether she was carded at the door.

Where ever did Mel get those hideous pants? Only her sister knows...
