November to Dismember Metalfest - Bands!
November 10-11, 2000

Most of my friends played on the Necropolis stage at Metalfest, which was the easier-to-find of stages in the second building. It was nearly as fun to watch other bands as it was to play the Metalfest, and it was wonderful that we could share the experience with some of Los Angeles's metal jewels.

DAEMOS

Here is Daemos, a four-piece heavy metal assault, hailing from San Diego, which calls upon the influences of bands like Sepultura and Machine Head. Singer/guitarist Vic Baddour had to borrow Fro Boy's guitar cable, having forgot his own, proving that friendship cooperation between bands in the LA metal scene is far more beneficial than the dog-eat-dog world that was the Hollywood scene in the 80's. Thanks for the shameless on-stage plug, Vic!

I'm ever looking forward to the long-awaited release of Daemos's full length CD. Check out the Daemos website for more information.

ONWARD

I had known Mike Grant for a year or so, having seen him at every metal show in town, but this was the first time I got to see him sing. I was highly impressed with his band Onward, which was a tight power-metal esque band (with a single guitar player, who held the six string fort quite nicely). Onward is the newest signing on Century Media records -- look for their album to come out early next year.

PROTOTYPE

Prototype has existed on the Los Angeles Metal scene for years, first under the moniker of Psychosis. Since changing their name, Prototype has released a couple of EP's, received warm response from MP3.com, and are on the verge of releasing a long-awaited full-length CD called Trinity. Technical progressive thrash might best describe this band, who pulled off difficult passages while thrashing about like madmen.
