Ever since she fell in love with John Taylor of Duran Duran back in her teeny-bopper days, Mel wanted to play bass. It wasn't until she was out of the parental household and on her own that she ran off to Hollywood's guitar shop block and came back with a bright red bass.

Mel plays a USA-made BC Rich Mockingbird bass, a Carvin LB20 4-string and a Yamaha 5-string bass through an SWR SM-900 amp and SWR cabinets. When she's not bass-ing, she can be found at any and every metal concert in town, or else with her nose buried in a comic book, or updating this website on one of her Macintosh computers. Yes, she is a Macintosh-snob -- beware!

Her influences include Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Geddy Lee, John Taylor, Geezer Butler, Markus Grosskopf from Helloween, David Ellefson (helllooooooo nurse!!!), Jason Ward from Flotsam and Jetsam (NOT Newstead), and Monty Colvin from Galactic Cowboys.
